Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre members support the next generation of health researchers through the Cohort Doctoral Studies Program, one of the first of its kind in Australia.
The Cohort Doctoral Studies Program is an innovative and highly successful program designed to support and nurture doctoral students through their studies. Participants benefit from a structured program of support, with experienced academic mentors and tailored workshops, seminars and writing retreats via twice-yearly on-campus block study weeks.
The program was established in 2011 with the aim of supporting health professionals working full or part-time to further their research goals. There are currently 135 students in the program across 17 Cohorts, with 60 completions/submissions since the Cohort program commenced. Approximately a third of Cohort students are employed by TAAHC Hospital and Health Service members and another third are regionally-based clinicians in primary care or private hospital practice. Together, Cohort students have produced over 300 publications and generated $15.6 million in grant income.
